Climate change is changing the way we live, which includes the way we think about health and well-being. It impacts both our biological and social environment, as well as our livelihoods. In particular, it can affect air quality, food and water quality, and our ability to access health care. Increasing temperature increases our risk of respiratory diseases and other illnesses. In addition, extreme weather events can cause mental stress, lack of food, and water-borne diseases. These risks can be mitigated through early warning systems and preparing for disasters. As a result of climate change, infectious diseases, such as malaria, are expected to increase. Heat waves are also likely to become more frequent and severe. This means more heat-related deaths. Older adults are especially susceptible to heat-related diseases.
